it's been awhile

Ok… So it has been a very long time.  This was meant to be my journal for running, and I have been terrible at it.

I did the Dopey.  I even managed a PR for my marathon - by over 1 minute, which I was so happy about, considering I had run 3 races up until that race.

I ran the Glass Slipper Challenge over the last weekend.  It was amazing, fun, and hot!  I ran the 10k in just over 57 minutes, which I was happy with knowing I had the half marathon the next day.  I ran the half in 2:05:xx.  Another PR.  I really wanted to go sub 2hrs, however the pacer for that was in the corral ahead of me, and I had to run it on my own.  I did stop for some pictures, so it made it a really fun race.

The next race on the cards will be the Dumbo Double Dare at Disneyland California.  Another 10k/Half combo.  After that I think I am done with these double races, I really want to put in my all for a race.  I am also going to try and do some other small local races, a few 5ks and hopefully 10ks.

So, my running goal for this year is to run consistently.  I want to get faster!  The way to do this is to be consistent.  I'm also going to try and have a purpose for every run, so I don't just go out there and not know what I am doing.

We will see how everything goes.  I got a new job, which means I will be traveling, working 14+ hour days, so we will see if I have time to fit in runs.  I figure if I can jump on a treadmill for 20-30 mins I can keep going with my plan.

Tower of Terror 10 Miler

What a great weekend.I ran in the Tower of Terror 10 Miler at Walt Disney World.  I did it last year, so I had to do it again to try and beat my time.  I had a goal, and achieved it.  It was tough, it was hot, and the week before my foot was hurting.

I had hurt my foot on Monday, stopped running and tried to rest.  I was so scared of hurting myself and not being able to run the race on the weekend.  So, instead of being fully prepared, I was worried that whole week beforehand.  Up to the race the arch of my foot was still sore, and every now and then I would feel a dull-ish pain.  When I started the 10 Miler it was ok, by the end not a problem.  And now, two days after the run, I have had no issues with it.  I'm am thinking that it just needed to be stretched out by running on it during the week.  Better to be safe than sorry though!!
With some of my co-workers.
I got to meet up with some of my fellow co-workers.  Great bunch of people to relax with before the race!  At least with my foot problems I wasn't expecting much.  I wanted to beat my time from last year, but if my foot was a problem I didn't mind.  I smashed that goal by about 4 minutes!  I broke my original goal of completing it sub 1:30:00!!  I came in 1:29:23.
Look at that speed!  At the finish line.
The next morning I woke up to check the race results, and to my surprise my time put me in at 30th in my age group, out of over 1000 other women.  I am very happy with that!  I know I can run faster if I put in the work too.  This motivates me to keep on going - I'm achieving more than I every thought I could.

We stayed up at Disney's Coronado Springs for two nights, and the Dog was lucky enough to stay at his very own hotel.  We visited him during his stay, and he seemed to be having fun.
All ears!

And, for the record, my splits:

Like I said, I started out good, then around mile 6 it got tough for me.  I am still very pleased with my results, and I want to keep improving!  Next time all splits will be in the 8 minuted range!!

Spontaneous stay at Disney

Both Husband and I had Sunday and Monday off, so decided a small trip away. To Orlando and to Disney!  We were celebrating soon to be 3 years of being married and also his 1000 hour party. (He just broke 1000 hours of flight time).

A huge storm broke out after we drove
up here, which looked amazing. So I had to test out the panoramic feature of my phone.  We stayed at New Orleans French Quarter, and we had extra magic hours to enjoy magic kingdom for a few hours after it closed to the general public.

Then, the next morning a breakfast of beignets!  The real reason to stay at French Quarter.
